UNDP ART GOLD MOROCCO

Launched in 2007 in two pilot regions, the Tangier Tetouan Region and the Oriental Region, the ART GOLD Program of UNDP Morocco aims to:

• Promote democratic governance at the decentralized level, through a participatory and concerted approach, both in terms of local development programming and in the management of resources from international cooperation
• Support the government and local actors (public and private) in the implementation of the process of decentralization and integrated participatory development at the level of the Regions, by strengthening the capacities of managers (at central and local level) and elected representatives through training in multiple areas (local development planning, project development, gender, monitoring and evaluation).
• Promote socio-economic development by promoting the regions through capacity building, promoting consultation and coordination in local planning, territorial marketing and the establishment of sustainable partnerships between local and regional authorities. north and south of the Mediterranean. ILS LEDA supported the program for:

1. facilitating the participatory identification and valorisation of the competitive and sustainable economic resources, that can combine economic and human development and accelerate the achievement of the millennium development goals;
2. providing a reference operational framework for improving and optimising the international decentralised cooperation partnerships and the MRE’s remises;
3. improving and to qualifying the sme and cooperative system;
4. enhancing the synergies and the optimisation of the existing service to the economic and human development

In this framework the main ILS LEDA results were:

1. ILS LEDA proposed a strategy for regional economic development for increasing competitiveness, reducing poverty, and offering better opportunities to medium and small enterprises.
